Cancer Rehabilitation

Working in tandem with clinicians at NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, we provide cancer rehabilitation services designed to support your wellbeing during all stages of cancer treatment, recovery, and long-term survivorship. Our experts at Rusk Rehabilitation offer each person an individualized rehabilitation plan that aims to ease the potential side effects of cancer treatment, restore physical function, help relieve physical and emotional stress, and improve quality of life.

Your rehabilitation plan may include many of the following services, depending on your needs:

Rehabilitation can help address some of the common side effects of cancer treatment, including fatigue, weakness, joint pain, swallowing problems, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, radiation fibrosis, lymphedema, incontinence, and post-mastectomy pain syndrome.

We offer our patients nonsurgical options such as therapeutic injections to address pain. We also specialize in treating sports-related injuries in cancer survivors.

Our physical medicine doctors are experts in osteopathic manipulative medicine treatment, also known as OMT or manual medicine. This therapy involves manipulating the muscles and joints of the body through stretching, resistance, and the application of gentle pressure with the hands. It can be an effective supplement to other types of cancer treatment by helping to lessen side effects and reduce pain.

Our experts also provide counseling on lifestyle changes that can support your recovery, such as diet and nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, and tobacco cessation.
