Dental Appointment Policy for Family Health Centers at NYU Langone
At the Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, we are committed to providing high-quality, accessible dental care to all patients. When patients miss appointments or do not confirm their scheduled visits, it reduces appointment availability for other patients who need care. To help ensure fair and timely access to our dental providers, we have implemented the Dental Appointment Confirmation, Late Arrival, and No-Show Policy, effective June 2026.
The policy, below, is also available in several other languages:
Appointment Confirmation
Confirm your dental appointment at least two business days before your scheduled visit. If your appointment is not confirmed by that time, it will be canceled and rescheduled for another date.
Late Arrival
If you arrive more than 15 minutes after your scheduled appointment time, you will be considered late. You will have two options:
- Schedule a new appointment for another day.
- Wait to see if a same-day appointment becomes available.
We will do our best to see you the same day as your original appointment. However, availability depends on the type of appointment, the time remaining in the schedule, and how busy the clinic may be. We cannot guarantee that a same-day appointment will be available.
No-Show Appointments
If you do not arrive for your scheduled appointment within three hours of your appointment time, your visit will be recorded as a no-show.
Repeated No-Show Appointments
If you have two or more no-show appointments within any 12-month period, you will no longer be able to schedule dental appointments in advance. During this time, you may continue to receive dental care by scheduling same-day appointments only, based on availability.
Policy Exceptions
We understand that unexpected emergencies can occur. If you believe your no-show should be excused due to an emergency or exceptional circumstances, you may submit a written request to the Family Health Centers Patient Relations Office by emailing FHCPatientRelations@NYULangone.org and explaining your situation.
Each request will be reviewed individually. The Family Health Centers reserve the right to approve or deny exception requests and will provide a written response within 14 business days.
