Government & Community Affairs at NYU Langone Health
As part of Communications, Marketing, Government and Community Affairs at NYU Langone, the Government and Community Affairs team serves as a primary liaison between the health system and government officials at the local, state, and federal levels. We engage with government officials, community boards, and community-based organizations to bring the highest-quality healthcare and services where our patients live and work. We partner with local organizations to provide screenings, programs, and events for the community at large.
Government Affairs
NYU Langone’s Government Affairs team works with government officials to address health issues of concern. We manage relationships with government officials, including coordinating meetings with NYU Langone leadership and visits to our facilities. We closely monitor and analyze important legislation, regulations, and budget proposals and advocate on issues as they affect NYU Langone and our patients. We work with clinical and research experts throughout the health system to elevate evidence-based guidance that informs health policy. We secure government funds for community programs and projects. We also ensure compliance with lobbying laws at the local, state, and federal levels.
Community Affairs
Our Community Affairs team conducts outreach to share health resources, provide screenings, and increase awareness of NYU Langone services throughout New York City and on Long Island.
Our team leads NYU Langone’s collaboration on numerous events with local elected officials and community boards, community-based organizations, neighborhood associations, and other community groups. Events range from sponsorship and coordination of health fairs to support for seasonal giving initiatives and participation in cultural and ethnic celebrations. We prioritize strong, bidirectional partnerships with local organizations, which are the bedrock of the communities we serve.
We collaborate with internal departments to participate in community events such as health fairs and educational presentations on health topics of importance to the community, led by NYU Langone experts. We work closely with the Family Health Centers at NYU Langone and NYU Langone’s Faculty Group Practices to provide clinical, social, educational, and emotional support for families, children, and older adults.
NYU Langone Health in the Community
Our NYU Langone Health in the Community report highlights our activities and contributions to benefit the communities we care for, including and beyond our patient population. Departments across NYU Langone work to improve all aspects of community health, including through blood pressure, cancer, and other screenings; chronic disease management; mental and behavioral healthcare; food and housing security; and vaccination. We deliver care and community programs that address all social drivers of health, including healthcare access and quality, education quality, early literacy and school readiness, neighborhood safety, environmental exposures, digital literacy, social support, and economic stability. We’re proud to share stories of community programs offered to people of all ages, from early childhood to seniors.
