In-Room Services at Tisch Hospital
At NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital, we strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible by offering the following in-room services and amenities.
Upon admission, we ask you about your nutritional needs and dietary preferences. Your doctor indicates what type of foods are permitted based on your medical status. If necessary, a registered dietitian develops a personalized meal plan for you.
Meals are served daily in your room. A host visits you at the bedside to help you order your meals. Our menu includes a variety of heart healthy options. We have a fresh selection of kosher items and can accommodate halal diets.
If you have questions about your meals or your recommended diet, ask your nurse to request a meeting with a registered dietitian.
Telephone and Television
Telephone service for outside calls is available for a daily fee. You may subscribe by calling extension 3-7403. Assistive telephone devices, teletypewriter (TTY), and telephones with amplified handsets and built-in ring indicator lights are available. Please keep in mind that insurance companies do not reimburse for telephone service.
You may use your personal cell phone in all areas of the hospital except in operating rooms and procedural areas. We ask that you connect to the NYU Langone Wi-Fi. Please maintain a distance of at least 3 feet from medical equipment, and do not place your mobile device on top of any medical equipment. When using your mobile phone, please be courteous and respectful of patient privacy.
Television service is available free of charge. Please call extension 3-1010 upon arrival to arrange for service. For safety reasons, patients are not allowed to bring their own televisions to the hospital.
Though personal electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, and portable DVD players are permitted, we recommend leaving them at home. Please be advised that NYU Langone is not responsible for the safety and security of these items during your stay.
Complimentary wireless internet access is available throughout Tisch Hospital. Please follow the directions that appear when you connect to our network.
Beauty and Barber Services
To have a beautician or barber come to your room, please contact Guest Services at 212-263-2092. Appointments must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Cash payment is made directly to the beautician or barber at the time of service. Insurance plans do not pay for these services, and they cannot be added to your hospital bill.
For your convenience, complimentary personal shopping is provided by Guest Services. Cash payment for outside services or items purchased for you must be made at the time of delivery. Guest Services staff is available weekdays from 7:00AM to 6:00PM and weekends from 10:00AM to 6:00PM and can be contacted at extension 3-2902.
