About Me
I was drawn to NYU Langone in 2008 because of the culture of teamwork—from the patients to the medical staff, we’re all in this together. I share a common goal with each member of my team: to do everything we can to help our patients heal from their injuries or illnesses.
As a rehabilitation medicine doctor, or physiatrist, I care for people with physical and cognitive disabilities. I specialize in treating those who are recuperating from a stroke or brain injury. I chose this field because I love building long-term relationships with patients.
Rehabilitation often starts in the hospital, right after an injury has occurred. We provide a support system that helps patients from the beginning, providing critical training so that they can be more self-sufficient when they relearn how to walk, dress, or cook.
I get to know my patients, not just their condition. I meet their families and their children, and learn about their accomplishments. I take into account their history, family, education, culture, and values. I want to understand what my patients are going through and how the rehabilitation process affects their daily lives. Connecting with them in this way helps to make our work together successful and gratifying.
