I studied electrical engineering before going to medical school. But I’m the kind of person who likes to work with people and feel like I’m making a difference, so I switched to obstetrics and gynecology. Coming from a family with a history of breast and ovarian cancers, I have always been passionate about empowering women in their health decisions. It’s one of the most meaningful things I can imagine doing with my life—I absolutely love it.

Engineering helped give me the ability to approach medical issues from all sides. If someone comes in with pelvic pain, for example, we can run certain tests. But maybe that person also needs to see a gastroenterologist or a therapist. There’s a whole spectrum of ways in which our problems can affect our lives.

As an obstetrician–gynecologist, I am able to connect with patients across their lifetime. I provide a full scope of services, including family planning and contraception, breast and cervical cancer screening, well-woman preventive care, and vaginal and cesarean deliveries. I also care for women who have abnormal bleeding, painful periods, fibroids, and cysts.

In June 2021, I received the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists’ Recognition of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology. I am credentialed to provide a spectrum of minimally invasive surgeries, including laparoscopic tubal ligation and laparoscopic ovarian cyst removal. These procedures use smaller incisions, which result in less postoperative pain and better patient outcomes.

Going to the doctor for gynecologic or obstetric care can be difficult. But I really go out of my way to put my patients at ease. I strive above all to create a warm, welcoming, and comfortable experience. It’s important to me to establish a relationship with patients, to be someone they can rely on. It is also nice for them to know and trust their doctor.
