What Sets Us Apart

NYU Langone doctors are experts in treating babies born prematurely—before 37 weeks of pregnancy. Whenever possible, our specialists delay labor in expectant mothers using medical treatment and, when necessary, surgery.

Our doctors check for signs of preterm labor during every prenatal visit using state-of-the-art ultrasound technology right in the office. Our obstetricians and pediatricians collaborate on tailoring care for mothers and babies, including women carrying more than one baby and other challenging pregnancies.

NYU Langone offers a level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Tisch Hospital—meaning our highly trained nurses, neonatologists, and other specialists are equipped to care for babies born before 37 weeks into pregnancy, including those with a very low birth weight and other medical conditions caused by prematurity. We are also accredited by The Joint Commission for perinatal care services. This recognizes our commitment to providing mothers and babies with safe, high-quality healthcare.

Treatment at NYU Langone

Doctors at NYU Langone assess your risk of preterm labor and take steps to prevent it. If preterm labor occurs, our doctors help you to recover fully and provide intensive medical care to your newborn.
