Our Approach to Treating

Male Infertility

At NYU Langone, our urologists are experts in managing infertility in men, which is also called male factor infertility. For about half of couples experiencing infertility, problems with the male reproductive system may be a contributing factor.

Urologists at NYU Langone work with specialists at the NYU Langone Fertility Center and NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York to identify and manage issues contributing to male infertility. These may include hormone imbalances, genetic abnormalities, or conditions such as varicocele, in which the veins in the testicles become enlarged.

Our team includes urologists who specialize in male infertility and men’s health, reproductive endocrinologists, nurses, and psychologists, as well as embryologists, who identify healthy sperm to be used for in vitro fertilization. These specialists work together with men and their partners to identify and treat infertility.

Treatment for Male Infertility

NYU Langone doctors may manage male infertility with medications that improve hormone levels. They may also recommend assisted reproductive techniques or surgery, which is used to correct conditions that cause a blockage or problems with sperm production and quality.
