Through our adult medicine program, we provide primary healthcare as well as specialized care for people seeking testing and treatment for infectious diseases, including HIV, and medical treatment for substance use. We can connect our patients with nutrition counseling as well as doctors from more than 25 medical and surgical specialties.
As part of NYU Langone’s PrEP Program for HIV Prevention, we offer pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to people who do not have HIV but are at high risk of contracting the virus through sex or intravenous drug use. PrEP blocks the virus that causes HIV and is 99 percent effective at preventing infection when taken regularly. The medication is available free or at low cost to anyone, regardless of insurance or immigration status. To learn more or make an appointment, please call 718-431-2667. PrEP is also available through NYU Langone’s Virtual Urgent Care.

We also offer primary medical care to people with substance use disorder. We prescribe buprenorphine, known as Suboxone®, and naltrexone, known as Revia® or Vivitrol®, to treat addiction in people who use heroin or opioid pain medications such as oxycodone. Naltrexone and other medications are also available for people who are trying to decrease their alcohol use.
Sunset Terrace Family Health Center is the hub of the Behavioral Health Program—Family Health Centers at NYU Langone. Our experts provide treatment and support for people experiencing mental health disorders. Care is provided by treatment teams made up of physicians, psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, psychologists, and mental health counselors.
Adults, adolescents, and children are treated for conditions including depression and schizophrenia, among others. Treatment methods used include medication management and individual, child, group, and family therapy.

After your doctor’s visit, you can have your prescriptions filled at our on-site pharmacy. Our pharmacists can view your medical information and collaborate with your care providers to ensure you receive the medications you need. We can answer questions such as when to take medication and how to manage multiple prescriptions. For people who do not have insurance, we can connect you with financial assistance programs to help you pay for medications or lower the cost.
Our doctors and nurse practitioners specialize in family medicine, internal medicine, hepatology, dental medicine, and infectious diseases and immunology.
