Reproductive Psychiatry Program

The Reproductive Psychiatry Program at NYU Langone Psychiatry Associates focuses on the mental health needs of women at every stage of childbearing, from preconception through pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenting. We provide evaluation and treatment for psychiatric conditions in pregnant and postpartum patients, as well as emotional support for issues such as coping with the stresses of infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss.

Patient with Reproductive Psychiatry Specialist

The Reproductive Psychiatry Program provides evaluation and treatment for psychiatric conditions in women at every stage of childbearing.

Our services include:

  • diagnostic assessment of mental health conditions
  • preconception planning
  • medication consultation and management
  • long- and short-term psychotherapy
  • family education and support

We also collaborate with NYU Langone’s Child Study Center to offer education for new parents of infants, such as our annual “Transition to Parenting 101” workshop. The focus of our clinical care, education, and research is the health and wellbeing of women and their partners as they become parents.

For pregnant women, new mothers, or women on maternity leave, we also offer online doctor visits through the NYU Langone Health app. Online video visits can be especially useful during the postpartum period, when it may be difficult to find the time to see your doctor in person. Through these visits, you can receive preventive treatment and help with concerns about postpartum depression, even before delivery.
