Allen Gorbonos, DO

From an early age, I was captivated by science and inspired by its power to solve complex problems and help others. My path to medicine was shaped by an influential endocrinologist who taught me that the word “doctor” comes from the Latin verb docere, meaning “to teach.” That idea resonated deeply with me, and I have carried with me the belief that a doctor’s role extends beyond treatment—it also involves educating patients, their families, and loved ones so they can make informed decisions about their health.

As an endocrinologist, I feel privileged to collaborate with my patients to positively impact their overall well-being and provide ongoing education. Establishing close relationships is core to my approach; I aim to ensure every patient feels supported and cared for as if they were part of my own family. At NYU Langone, my team and I are deeply committed to delivering individualized care alongside the highest level of support, creating long-term connections that prioritize patients' needs.

I specialize in providing care for individuals with diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, and adrenal or pituitary disorders. For patients managing diabetes, I am dedicated to offering guidance on the latest advancements, such as continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps, so they can make informed decisions about their care. It's essential to me that patients not only receive cutting-edge treatment but also maintain a sense of autonomy and confidence in managing their conditions.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve this community where I also completed my residency and fellowship. Giving back to the city I call home through compassionate and excellent care is both an honor and a driving motivation for my work.
