Your Spine: An Operator’s Manual
Everything you need to know about staying nimble and pain-free from our top-ranked spine experts.
View the BookSpine surgeons at NYU Langone’s Robotic Spine Surgery Program use advanced, minimally invasive robotic technology to treat a range of conditions affecting the neck and back. Our internationally recognized team of surgeons performs more robotic spine surgeries per year than most other health systems.
Although the procedures we perform are similar to traditional open surgeries, the use of robotics makes surgery less invasive while also increasing accuracy and safety. This translates into important benefits for patients, including quicker recovery times, reduced complications, and better overall outcomes.
As a core offering of NYU Langone’s Spine Center, our robotic program is constantly innovating and leveraging the latest technologies to ensure the best possible surgical outcomes in neck and spine care for adults and children.
Our surgical team uses the Globus ExcelsiusGPS robotic system, combining advanced CT imaging and navigation during surgery. By providing real-time 3D scans, this technology enables our surgeons to plan, guide, and confirm the placement of spinal screws, cages, and other implants.
As early adopters of this robotic system, our surgeons have developed extensive experience and expertise.
Before becoming a candidate for spine surgery, patients often see a primary care physician or pediatrician, physiatrist, neurologist, rheumatologist, or pain medicine specialist for an evaluation.
If you are evaluated in our program, we meet with you to assess your condition and address any questions and concerns you may have to help you make an informed treatment decision. Our orthopedic and neurosurgery spine surgeons work as needed with rehabilitation doctors, pain management physicians, neurologists, advanced practice providers, and advanced practice providers to develop a personalized plan of care.
Our surgeons perform robotic surgeries at NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital and Kimmel Pavilion in Manhattan, NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, and NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island.
You may also see physical and occupational therapists on our team as part of your recovery.
