At NYU Langone Radiology—Upper West Side, we provide a wide range of outpatient imaging, screening, and radiology services, including some that are difficult to access elsewhere. Images are read by our team of over 325 radiologists, who use advanced technology that helps detect disease earlier, allowing us to begin treatment sooner and plan care more precisely.

We offer MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans, which use magnetism and radio frequency to deliver pictures of bones and other internal structures more quickly than other methods. Our two highly advanced 3 Tesla MRI machines provide high-resolution images through short-bore technology that’s more comfortable for patients. We are also able to scan people who have MRI-conditional pacemakers.

In addition, we offer an array of breast imaging services, including high-resolution 3D mammography, known as digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), which can improve detection rates of cancer and reduce the need for additional visits. NYU Langone is also a leader in using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to improve the accuracy of breast cancer screening done via imaging and biopsies. When screening results are positive, the tools trigger more in-depth diagnostic tests, which means that any necessary treatment can begin sooner.

The following imaging services are also available:

  • CT scans, which use the latest technology (with the lowest possible radiation dose) to provide outstanding 3D images of the body’s structure
  • Advanced cardiac CT for noninvasive assessment of the heart and blood vessels
  • DEXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry), a scan used to measure bone density
  • Highest-quality CT and MRI thoracic imaging for liver, pancreas, bowel, biliary, and oncologic conditions
  • The newest-generation mMR (PET/MR) technology, which combines positron emission tomography and MRI to help detect heart disease, certain cancers, and neurogenerative conditions, more quickly and with less radiation exposure than ever before

All images are interpreted by board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologists with expertise in their relevant imaging specialties—and most exams are read within 24 hours.
