At NYU Langone Orthopedic Center, our departments are led by experts in the field of healthcare management, nursing, and muscular, skeletal, and joint rehabilitation. 

Gail S. Chorney, MD, Director 

Dr. Chorney is medical director of ambulatory care services at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital. She also oversees the physician practices for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Prior to devoting her attention to NYU Langone Orthopedic Center, she practiced as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. View Dr. Chorney’s full profile.

Heather Hamilton, Administrative Manager 

Ms. Hamilton has more than 10 years administrative management experience with an expertise in human resources to encourage continuous improvement, helping to advance standards of excellence within healthcare.

Mary Gribbin, RN, MSN, MBA, Nursing Director, Nursing and Clinical Staff

Ms. Gribbin has more than 20 years of leadership experience, specifically with the ambulatory and musculoskeletal patient populations.  

Debbie Newman OTR, MA, Site Director for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and the Sports Performance Center

Mrs. Newman has 20 years of experience working specifically with the orthopedic and sports population.

James Gildea, MPH, Practice Manager, Sports Medicine Center

A former emergency medical technician, Mr. Gildea has nearly a decade of hospital operations experience and uses his Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification to help the practice operate more efficiently. 

Amy Barroso, Administrative Director

Ms. Barroso has more than 10 years of experience and a dedicated focus on helping patients access the resources they need to have a high-quality and pleasant healthcare experience.

Ranit C. Shriky, Research Director, Peter D. Seligman Center for Advanced Therapeutics

Ms. Shriky has served as research director of the Peter D. Seligman Center for Advanced Therapeutics since 2001 and is chairman of the Lupus Foundation of America, New Jersey Chapter Board of Directors.

Janelle Vanacore, MHA, Assistant Administrative Director

Mrs. Vanacore has worked in many different aspects of healthcare and uses this experience to provide the most patient-centered, efficient care possible, while emphasizing employee recognition and engagement.

Beatriz Gaton, Practice Manager, Joint Replacement Center—Adult Reconstructive Services and Physiatry

Mrs. Gaton has more than 10 years of experience in healthcare with a focus on patient satisfaction and employee engagement.

Cicil Chamakalayil, RT (R)(MR), Technical Manager, Radiology

Mr. Chamakalayil has been with NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital for more than 10 years, and uses his experience as an MRI technician to provide patient-centric care.

Nicholas W. Chee, MPH, Practice Manager, Rheumatology and Infusion

With years of experience in hospital operations, project management, and academic research, Mr. Chee helps rheumatology and infusion patients gain access to necessary resources, care, and treatments.

Lauren Berkman, MPA, Practice Manager, Spine and Pain Management

Mrs. Berkman brings years of experience in hospital operations and patient satisfaction to ensure spine and pain management patients are receiving excellent care and a great experience.
