At NYU Langone Cancer Center for Kids—Mineola, our team works together to provide the best care possible for your child and support the entire family throughout cancer diagnosis and treatment. We treat children with all types of cancer and blood disorders in a compassionate and comforting environment.

Beginning with your child’s first visit, our focus is not only on their physical health but also on their emotional and overall wellbeing. Our team includes specialists in pediatric hematology and oncology, nurses, clinical psychologists, social workers, child life specialists, and creative arts and music therapists, who support your child at every step, from diagnosis and treatment through survivorship.

As part of NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, we collaborate with experts across multiple specialties, and use the latest advances and research to develop the most effective care plan for your child.

We treat pediatric cancers including leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, brain tumors, bone and soft tissue tumors, neuroblastoma, and Wilms tumor, and also provide treatment for rare cancers.

In addition, our pediatric hematologists treat children for a variety of blood disorders including hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, sickle cell disease, thalassemia, thrombotic disorders, and iron deficiency and other types of anemia.

Our experts provide all diagnostic testing and treatment, including surgery, transfusions, infusion, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, in one location. This allows your child to receive care close to home while promoting strong relationships with their care team. Our spaces are designed by artists to provide a fun, welcoming environment for children.

We also strive to minimize hospital stays so that our young patients can be with their families and maintain their normal routines as much as possible. A child’s cancer diagnosis is difficult for the entire family. We offer support services and other resources to help children and their families cope with the challenges.

Excellence in Pediatric Cancer Treatment and Research

We are a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, a global clinical trials group dedicated to childhood and adolescent cancer research and supported by the National Cancer Institute. This gives our patients access to the latest novel treatments.

We are also a member of the Thalassemia Clinical Research Network, which conducts active research and develops new treatments for people with thalassemia, an inherited blood disorder. We participate in the New York State Newborn Screening Program for detecting and treating newborn children with sickle cell and other blood disorders. We are also designated as a New York State Specialty Care Center for high-quality standards in the diagnosis and treatment for hemoglobinopathy, a group of blood disorders and diseases that affect red blood cells.
