Arielle B. Matalon, MD

As a neurologist at NYU Langone Neurology Associates, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to my patients. My approach is centered on education and empowerment, ensuring that patients understand their condition and the steps we will take together to manage it. I believe in transforming complex medical information into clear, actionable insights, fostering a collaborative environment where patients feel supported and informed.

I specialize in treating patients with a wide range of neurologic conditions, including diseases of the brain, spine, peripheral nerves, and muscles. My particular interest in neuromuscular disorders led me to complete a fellowship in neurophysiology. This advanced training allows me to perform nerve conduction studies and electromyography (NCS/EMG) to diagnose conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Additionally, I am skilled in performing skin biopsies for diagnosing small fiber neuropathy and administering various injections, including botulinum toxin (Botox) and occipital nerve blocks, for migraine treatment.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to advancing medical education. As an attending physician on the inpatient neurology consult and ward teams, I work closely with neurology residents and medical students, guiding them through the complexities of neurologic care. This role not only enhances my practice but also allows me to contribute to the development of future neurologists, ensuring that they are well-equipped to provide high-quality care.

My journey into neurology began with a fascination for the brain's complexity, which I explored through my studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where I majored in biological basis of behavior. This academic foundation, combined with my clinical experiences, solidified my passion for neurology. I am driven by the profound impact that neurologic care can have on patients' lives and strive to bring empathy and ethical integrity to every patient interaction.
