Having trained and worked at many of the hospital systems in New York City, I am proud to be on staff at NYU Langone Hospitals as a Cardiac Electrophysiologist. Great medical care not only involves finding the right doctor, but having access to the best technologies, facilities, and all of the other “small” but important things that go into making us feel better as patients. At NYU Langone, I work to provide patients with treatments and cures for their heart rhythm issues using the latest techniques and tools in cardiac electrophysiology. 

The field of cardiac electrophysiology is a constantly evolving one in which technologies constantly change to make procedures more efficacious, safer, and faster. Being involved in the latest clinical trials not only makes my job interesting, it more importantly moves the field, and allows patients to have access to new cures. I have had the privilege of being a site principal investigator for multiple trials and studies involving new high density mapping systems, cardiac resynchronization devices, defibrillator leads, subcutaneous defibrillators, radiofrequency ablation catheters, and pulsed field ablation. 

Throughout my career I have also sought to find new solutions for problems in electrophysiology. I developed a lead binding technique to facilitate lead extractions which I coined the “Felix Helix” and published a novel method of finding gaps in ablation lesions for atrial fibrillation ablation. This “Escape Mapping” technique is utilized by cardiac electrophysiologists worldwide. I also developed a safer method of obtaining access for pacemaker and defibrillator implants utilizing a particular “caudal” x-ray view which has been incorporated into the societal guidelines and utilized by many cardiac device implanters. 

One of the most challenging arrhythmias to treat is long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation, and I have had extensive experience in a multispecialty collaborative approach for AF ablation. Having been involved in the Converge IDE clinical trial and been an author on best practices, outcomes and review publications on the modality, I am internationally recognized for helping bring this treatment option into practice. 

I have expertise in the full range of cardiac devices, including implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators, leadless pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization devices and left atrial occlusion devices. Having established and been Director of the Lead Extraction program in my former institution, I also have had over a decade of experience in complex device lead removals. My expertise in ablation encompasses the spectrum of atrial fibrillation, supraventricular and ventricular tachycardias. 

My goal as a clinician is to first enable my patients to understand what cardiac electrical issues they may have and to make informed decisions about their care. Second, to offer treatment options that try to restore and maintain normal cardiac rhythm and function in a safe and effective manner. Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society, and having been featured in the Heart Rhythm Society Expert Perspectives content, I strive to provide the best treatments and cures possible.
