Sunil George, MD

As an emergency medicine physician at NYU Langone, my approach to care is deeply influenced by personal experiences with illness within my family. It has help me to see the importance of both the art of patient care and the science of medicine, to which I am equally dedicated. It is in the dynamic environment of the emergency department, where all medical specialties and patients of diverse backgrounds intersect that I care for my patients as my family.

My expertise lies in treating patients with critical health conditions in the fast-paced setting of the emergency department. My specialized training and experience in emergency medicine enable me to deliver high-quality care to patients of all ages and backgrounds, irrespective of their health conditions. Additionally, I am passionate about shaping the learning experiences of all healthcare students, which I believe will benefit the patients they care for during critical and transformative moments. I serve as core faculty for the emergency medicine residency at NYU Langone Hospital–Long Island, contributing to the growth of future emergency physicians.

Throughout my career, I have worked diligently for the education of medical students, residents, faculty, and allied health professionals in both hospital and simulated settings. As the medical director of the Simulation Center at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, I use this experiential educational modality to bridge the learning and performance of students in all phases of their education. I also oversee several courses at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, including the Emergency Medicine Advanced Clerkship and the Transition to Residency Courses.

My path into medicine was inspired by witnessing the impact of illness on patients and providers within my own family. This led me to appreciate the art of patient care. I chose to specialize in emergency medicine due to its unique capacity to significantly influence life-changing experiences of both patients and learners. I am proud to serve at NYU Langone, an institution that prioritizes patients and their health conditions, offering them the best opportunity for optimal wellbeing.
