Jennifer M. Reckrey, MD

I am a geriatrician and health services researcher committed to advancing the health and well-being of individuals with dementia and other serious illnesses living in the community.

In my clinical practice I have observed firsthand the critical role that collaboration between caregivers and healthcare providers plays in enabling older adults to remain at home with complex care needs. As a primary care physician at the Bellevue Geriatric Medicine Clinic, I offer comprehensive, individualized care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. I work closely with patients, caregivers, and an interdisciplinary care team to ensure that care aligns with patients’ goals and priorities.

My research, shaped by my clinical experiences, focuses on home and community-based models of clinical and long-term care that support older adults to live at home. I have a particular interest in examining the role of paid caregivers—including home health aides, personal care attendants, and other direct care workers—within dementia care teams. My work explores how the day-to-day care that paid caregivers provide impacts patients, families, and the broader healthcare system.
