NYU Langone’s Outpatient Chemical Dependency Treatment Center provides chemical dependency treatment for adults age 18 and over. As part of NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk, we are here to help you—quickly, and without judgment.

Our comprehensive outpatient substance use disorder program offers compassionate, personalized, patient-centered care to work with you on your substance use. Using evidence-based practices, proven interventions, medication-assisted therapy, and behavior modification, we help people with substance use disorders help themselves. We also help you consider your choices, establish goals, assist you in meeting challenges, and support you in finding solutions.

Our team is made up of board-certified physicians with expertise in both mental health and substance use disorders, licensed clinical social workers, credentialed substance abuse counselors (CASAC), and a peer advocate. These are some of the services we offer:

  • assessments and evaluation
  • peer-to-peer support, encouragement, and assistance with and referrals to community resources
  • psychiatric and medication evaluation
  • comprehensive treatment plans
  • medication-assisted treatment—including using Suboxone and oral naltrexone for opioid dependence and Vivitrol for opioid and alcohol dependence
  • mental health medication management
  • early recovery and relapse prevention

We also offer many programs for individuals, groups, and families. These include anger management; co-occurring conditions treatment, for patients with both a mental health condition and substance use disorder; DWI/DUI education; forensic treatment; and specialized programs for adults over age 55 and for those with a history of trauma, abuse, or having witnessed violence

Families and significant others are encouraged to participate in treatment. To receive services, patients must have a substance use disorder diagnosis.
