Andrew L. Lehr, MD

As a pulmonary and critical care specialist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to my patients. My approach is centered on clear communication and education, ensuring that patients and their families are well-informed about their conditions and treatment options. I believe that building trust through open dialogue is essential for effective patient care.

I specialize in treating patients with critical conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, and pneumonia. My work primarily takes place in NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital intensive care unit (ICU) and the VA Medical ICU, as well as on the pulmonary service at the VA. I am committed to staying at the forefront of medical advances to offer the best possible care to patients with these complex and often life-threatening conditions.

Throughout my career, I have taken on multiple roles within NYU Grossman School of Medicine, including co-directing the pulmonary physiology module for first-year medical students and serving as firm chief for clerkship medical students. Additionally, I am an assistant program director for the pulmonary and critical care fellowship. These roles allow me to contribute to the education and training of future physicians, which I find incredibly rewarding.

My journey into medicine was driven by a passion for teaching and a desire to help those in critical need. I chose pulmonary and critical care because it allows me to engage with complex physiologic challenges and make a significant impact on my patients' lives. Being accepted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society reflects my commitment to providing high-quality, empathetic care. At NYU Langone, I am proud to be part of a team that prioritizes coordinated care for all patients.
