About Me
As the son of two Vietnamese immigrants, I entered emergency medicine with a commitment to providing comprehensive patient care to people from all walks of life. I completed both my undergraduate and medical education at Brown University, where I studied health systems, structure, and policy, which fostered my interest in how thoughtful design and strategic innovation can address complex healthcare challenges. This foundational experience continues to drive my work today.
After completing my residency, I joined NYU Langone as a board-certified emergency medicine physician with a deep interest in harnessing the power of telemedicine and cutting-edge technologies to transform healthcare.
In my role as associate service chief for NYU Virtual Urgent Care, I lead a team dedicated to expanding and refining telemedicine services to improve access, efficiency, and quality of care by leveraging virtual care solutions that meet the needs of our fast-evolving healthcare system. My leadership is grounded in a vision for a future in which cutting-edge technologies drive more equitable, user-friendly, and patient-centered care across communities. I believe telemedicine has the potential to revolutionize emergency care by making it more accessible and efficient, especially for patients who face barriers to traditional in-person visits, whether geographic, financial, or logistical.
Beyond clinical responsibilities, I focus on identifying and integrating innovations that streamline emergency care and support both patients and providers in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. Nationally, I serve as the secretary of the American College of Emergency Physicians’ Telehealth Section, allowing me to collaborate with leaders in the field of telehealth and virtual care. I also published an article in The Hill, "Hero and Villain: An Asian American Doctor’s Perspective on Being Both," to share my insights on healthcare and the physician experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
