About Me
As a psychiatrist at NYU Langone, I am deeply committed to combining science and the humanities to help my patients understand whatever is interfering with their thriving and enjoying the life they have chosen. My passion for psychiatry began when I witnessed the transformative power of psychotherapy and medication in patients who were severely ill. Seeing them return to normal, lively functioning inspired me to dedicate my career to this field.
I specialize in treating depression and anxiety, particularly in patients who face interpersonal conflicts that hinder their ability to fully embrace life. I strive to bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my practice. My additional training in psychoanalysis and child psychiatry allows me to delve deeply into my patients’ inner conflicts and developmental aspects, providing a comprehensive approach to their care.
Throughout my career, I have emphasized the importance of listening carefully to my patients. I believe in reflecting with them to ensure they feel understood and develop a sense of hope. My approach is rooted in the power of long-term psychotherapeutic relationships, which I have found to be immensely beneficial over the course of one’s life.
My educational journey began with a deep desire to help others, leading me to pursue a career in medicine. I have been honored with several awards, including Massachusetts Mental Health Center’s Elvin Semrad Teaching Award and American Psychiatric Society’s Nancy C. A. Roeske, M.D., Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education. These recognitions reflect my commitment to compassionate patient care and my dedication to mentoring the next generation of mental health professionals.
At NYU Langone, I am passionate about teaching and mentoring, which keeps me engaged and continuously learning. My goal is to provide the best possible care by combining scientific knowledge with a deep understanding of my patients’ experiences.
