Anju Nohria, MD

I became a physician out of a deep passion for biology and a commitment to caring for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. I was drawn to cardiology—and particularly heart failure—because it combines meticulous medical problem-solving with the opportunity to support patients and their families through serious, often life-changing health challenges. Over time, I expanded my expertise to include cardio-oncology, a growing field focused on protecting the heart during and after cancer treatment.

I specialize in caring for patients with advanced heart failure and those who develop heart conditions related to cancer therapies. I collaborate closely with my patients to understand their medical history, symptoms, and personal goals, ensuring treatment decisions align with their specific needs. I emphasize trust, open communication, and shared decision-making, listening attentively and addressing questions thoughtfully. I believe being heard and supported can be as impactful as the medical treatments themselves.

As a leader in my field, I helped establish one of the first multidisciplinary cardio-oncology programs in the country. This team-based approach brings together experts in cardiology, oncology, imaging, and nursing to detect heart problems early, tailor treatments as needed, and provide coordinated care throughout cancer therapy and recovery. The program has demonstrated significant improvements in both patient outcomes and quality of life.

Beyond clinical care, I actively engage in research to better understand how cancer therapies impact heart health and to develop more effective treatments for these conditions. I am also dedicated to educating patients and fellow clinicians to expand access to specialized cardio-oncology care.

I want patients to know that heart failure and cancer-related heart conditions are complex but manageable. With a thoughtful, coordinated care plan, many patients can safely continue cancer treatment while maintaining good cardiovascular health. My priority is to provide holistic and compassionate care, ensuring patients feel supported both medically and as individuals.
