Nina Blachman, MD

As a geriatrician at NYU Langone, I am committed to providing personalized, patient-centered care, and I find immense joy in listening to my patients’ stories and collaborating with their families. With years of experience and extensive training in internal medicine and geriatric medicine, I am adept at managing chronic conditions prevalent in older adults. I see every patient as an individual, understanding that people over 65 are a diverse and fascinating group. This approach ensures that no two treatment plans are alike, mirroring the uniqueness of my patients.

In addition to patient care, I am deeply involved in the academic side of medicine. As the fellowship director for geriatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, I recruit and train the next generation of geriatricians. I also serve as teaching faculty at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and as a Violet Society advisor for our medical students. My work extends to various departments where I teach geriatrics-related topics. This dedication to education has earned me several teaching awards from NYU Grossman School of Medicine and the American Geriatrics Society.

My journey into geriatric medicine was inspired by my early interactions with older adults. My close relationship with my grandmother and early volunteering at a nursing home sparked my interest in geriatrics, and the field captivated me even prior to my premedical studies at Princeton University. The richness of patients’ stories and the diversity of their experiences made me realize the uniqueness of this field. I was fortunate to train at NYU Langone, where I continue to serve, ensuring comprehensive and coordinated care for my patients. I strive to inspire medical students and residents to pursue careers in geriatrics, knowing what a rewarding and unique specialty it is.
