About Me
My path into medicine was inspired by a desire to care for patients in a comprehensive way. Psychiatry appealed to me because of its focus on the whole person, not just the illness. I am committed to treating patients in a holistic manner, considering not just their medical conditions, but also their personal histories, social determinants of health, support networks, and life pursuits. My interest in psychiatry has always been strong, and my passion for assisting patients with co-occurring substance use disorders has only intensified over time.
As an addiction psychiatrist at NYU Langone, my specialty lies in treating patients with both substance use disorders and psychiatric illness. I find meaning in partnering with my patients in their journeys to recovery, whatever form, and however long, those journeys take. My comprehensive training in addiction psychiatry, including my time in the NYU Langone’s Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship, has given me the skills and knowledge to provide all-encompassing care to my patients, including the most up-to-date pharmacotherapies.
Throughout my career, I have emphasized proactive engagement in healthcare and patient education. I am enthusiastic about teaching and have had the honor of instructing NYU Langone’s medical students, residents, and fellows. My dedication to education was acknowledged when I received the “Teacher of the Year” award from the addiction fellowship class of 2021–22.
In my role as medical director of the Chemical Dependency Outpatient Program (IOP), I collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to provide compassionate and coordinated care for my patients. We offer an individualized, patient-centered approach, to help patients develop their own unique treatment goals, whether the focus is harm reduction or relapse prevention. I believe in tailoring care, understanding that what is right for one person may not be right for another. I am privileged to work collaboratively with patients, to lend my expertise, help achieve treatment goals, and make an impact in their lives by promoting health, wellness and recovery.
