About Me
My mother, who was a nurse in Poland, inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. As a child, I saw how much empathy and compassion she had for her patients. After we moved to the United States, I discovered that I excelled in science and math at school. This went hand in hand with my goal of becoming a doctor.
During my medical training, I discovered I loved the bedside manner of my mentors, who took care of patients who had cancer. I also liked that I would never stop learning while working in the field of medical oncology.
At NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, I use chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted agents to manage gastrointestinal malignancies, including stomach, liver, and pancreatic cancer. I focus on the needs of my patients, as well as their values and beliefs, to personalize their treatment. My goal is to empower people through education about their condition, so they want to participate in shared decision-making about their care.
I work with a team of specialists that includes pathologists, radiologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, social workers, and nutritionists to provide a patient-centered approach to care. We work together to support patients and their families through every step of their journey.
I am a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American College of Physicians. My interests include working on quality improvement research projects and the development of medical education, which is essential to improving patient care. In 2020, I received the Quality Care Symposium Merit Award from Conquer Cancer, the American Society of Clinical Oncology Foundation, for my fellowship research.
