I find my practice in emergency medicine to be rewarding and meaningful. I believe emergency medicine physicians are the best when it comes to providing quality care for those most in need. To be able to deliver good medical care when faced with a potentially declining patient requires a deep fund of knowledge along with efficiency and procedural competence. At our core, we are masters of resuscitation.

After graduating from the Yale Emergency Medicine Residency program, I was privileged to have trained at the NYU Langone/Bellevue Hospital Center/New York City Poison Center’s Medical Toxicology fellowship, which is one of the most prestigious programs in the country. Learning to care for the patient who has been poisoned was necessarily intersectional and has broadened my knowledge base with respect to many other specialties.

On a personal level, I am the child of first-generation immigrants and grew up in the USA, India, Hong Kong, and Brazil. I find it easy to quickly connect with a wide variety of people – a skill that has served me well in my practice.

My academic interests are most aligned with medical toxicology and emergency medicine, but recent projects have inevitably involved other specialties including critical care, cardiology, and nephrology. My current interests include cardiac toxins, innovative uses of technology and the intersection of toxicology, methemoglobinemia identification, antidotal therapy modifications, laboratory errors, toxic alcohols, and risk stratification.
