About Me

I never considered any profession other than medicine. My dad was an obstetrician–gynecologist and helped couples who were struggling with infertility. I knew he had a big impact on the lives of families, and I decided I wanted to help people too. I believe an active lifestyle is the key to good health, and I want to help those who are experiencing pain to achieve this.

I am considered a point person for low back and neck pain, as well as other types. I manage pain nonsurgically when it first arises—and when it is chronic.

Most of my patients have low back pain, which can strike suddenly—such as after a round of golf—or develop over time. I also see patients who have pain in their knees, hips, shoulders, and neck. I manage sciatica, which is back or hip pain that travels to the legs, as well as migraine headache, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and complex regional pain syndrome.

I offer the latest minimally invasive therapies, including cooled radiofrequency ablation, also known as COOLIEF^®. This involves using radiofrequency to disrupt the transmission of pain signals to the brain. It can help to relieve chronic knee, shoulder, back, and hip pain.

I also perform minimally invasive procedures for people who have lumbar spinal stenosis, in which the spinal cord narrows, putting pressure on nerves and causing pain. With minimally invasive lumbar decompression, I remove small pieces of bone and ligament to create more space in the spinal canal, reducing nerve compression. In addition, I offer the Vertiflex™ Procedure, in which a small device is placed inside the spine to create more space, relieving pressure on the spinal nerves.

For people with chronic low back pain due to inflammation of the vertebrae, I can perform intracept basivertebral nerve ablation. Before this, surgery was the only option.

I also offer peripheral nerve stimulation to manage chronic low back, shoulder, and knee pain. I can perform spinal cord stimulation for people who have low back pain, leg pain, or diabetic neuropathy. I also provide Botox^® injections for those who experience chronic migraine headaches.

Pain can be debilitating. When left unmanaged, it can lead to depression. My goal is to help patients return to the activities they love, whether these include sports, travel, or spending time with their family. I take the time to review treatment options with patients and help them make the right choice for them.

Treatment for chronic pain is constantly evolving. Interventional therapies are helping patients to avoid surgery and minimize the use of pain medication. It is rewarding to know that I am making a difference in people’s lives.

I am a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the New York Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
