Medicine is a wonderful profession. I love the challenge of constantly learning and the ability to apply my knowledge to the improvement of health and patient wellbeing.
I have a degree in nutrition and understand how the endocrine system and hormone interactions are strongly associated with diet and lifestyle, which play an important role in maintaining health.
I enjoy taking on the challenge of managing hormone interactions and the disease processes associated with them. I treat patients with endocrine disorders, diabetes, thyroid disorders, metabolic bone disease, adrenal disorders, metabolic syndrome, and more. At least 50 percent of my patients have metabolic bone disease related to cancer treatment, malabsorption disorders, fragility fractures, and parathyroid disease. I have a strong interest in metabolic bone disease both in young adults and the elderly, osteoporosis and fracture prevention, and I’m highly involved in improving quality of care in an ambulatory setting for patients.
I am proficient in interpreting bone density scans and I’m certified as a clinical densitometrist. I interpret and manage patients with available diabetes technology, including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors.
I have excellent listening and communication skills and I’m always interested in my patients’ wellbeing. I focus on the entire medical history rather than the individual problem. Being well-rounded, thorough, and kind, I realize that improvement in health requires education—both for physicians and patients. Once patients are empowered with knowledge about their disease process, their treatment becomes easier.
I am a member of the American Society of Bone Mineral Research, the Endocrine Society, American College of Physicians, American Academy of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the International Society of Clinical Densitometry.
