Barun Bagga, MD

As a body radiologist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to delivering high-quality imaging services to the Long Island community. My work involves interpreting a variety of imaging modalities, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), radiographs, ultrasonography, and performing fluoroscopic procedures. I am passionate about providing precise and accurate diagnoses, which are crucial for effective patient care and treatment planning.

I specialize in imaging of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis, with a particular focus on advanced CT and MRI techniques. My expertise extends to the clinical applications of deep learning, artificial intelligence, and low-field MRI in body imaging. With more than 20 published peer-reviewed articles to my name, I have contributed significantly to the field. My work has been recognized with the Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography Editor’s Award of Distinction and Abdominal Radiology’s Distinguished Reviewer Award in 2023. My commitment to excellence is also reflected in my involvement with rectal cancer and thoracic tumor boards to help improve cancer care.

Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in medical education, mentoring both medical students and residents. I was honored to receive the Outstanding Attending of the Year award in 2023 and the Fellow Teacher of the Year award in 2022. Additionally, my research has been acknowledged with the Best Fellow Scientific Presentation Award at the Society of Abdominal Radiology annual meeting in 2021. These accolades underscore my dedication to advancing the field of radiology and fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals.

My journey into medicine was driven by a fascination with the intricate details of the human body and the power of imaging technology to reveal them. I pursued my medical degree with a focus on radiology, inspired by the potential to make a significant impact on patient outcomes through accurate and timely diagnoses.
