About Me
As a psychiatrist at the Child Study Center, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive mental healthcare. My approach is rooted in the belief that cohesive and community-focused care can significantly improve the wellbeing of my patients. These are values imparted upon me from my grandmother who devoted her free time to teaching literacy to children who were otherwise forced into child labor.
I tailor care to each child and family, with a focus on understanding complex relational dynamics to sustain a higher quality of life and build better foundational emotional health for children. In addition, I explore options related to psychotherapy and may consider psychopharmacology therapy with medicines to enhance patient outcomes.
My career path began at University of California Los Angeles-Kern where I completed internship and mastered treating the intersection of substance use, medical illnesses, and psychiatric illnesses. During residency at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside, I was the psychiatrist for the Crime Victims Treatment Center, an organization in Manhattan for victims of trauma and abuse. In that position, I developed a keen understanding of the role of emotional and relational dynamics to help ground those who are most vulnerable.
At New York Medical College, where I served as the chief fellow, I honed my leadership and organizational skills, and learned how to maintain clinical excellence and high standards within the medical field of child psychiatry. Afterward, I was the lead child and adolescent psychiatrist within a public health initiative called Virtual Express Care, part of NYC Health and Hospitals, where I was also responsible for quality improvement to increase access to child psychiatry mental health services in emergency departments. My background in the field is diverse and I have experience with treating patients with a range of mental health illnesses and acuity levels.
I learned from an early age there is no better way to experience hope than to work with and empower the children of our future through small steps. My goal is for my patients to be functional and able to build on an underlying foundation that allows them to pursue fulfilling and happy lives of their own.
