Hank Ng, MD

As a member of the NYU Langone medical oncology team, I specialize in treating, screening, and preventing cancer of the adrenal gland, bladder, kidney, prostate, and testicles. I also perform bone marrow aspirations and biopsies and can provide a second medical opinion for patients diagnosed with cancer who seek more information about their diagnosis or treatment plan.

My interest in pursuing a career in hematology and oncology started in high school, when I became fascinated with the science behind the biology of cancer. But it was during medical school that I first started to develop bonds with the patients on the hematology–oncology floors of the hospital. The opportunity to build relationships with patients is what I value most.

Our team offers world-class care, and it is accompanied by personalized care in the local community. I am dedicated to taking the time to explain the diagnosis; the next steps in workup, meaning diagnostic tests; and the different treatment options.

Whether patients seek treatment in Manhattan or Brooklyn, they may be eligible for clinical trials, some of which are sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. At NYU Langone, I participate in clinical trials pertaining to the genital and urinary systems. I can help my patients access these and other appropriate clinical trials, through which they can receive treatments that may improve outcomes.

It is truly a privilege to be part of the medical journey with my patients and their families. What is most important is quality of life. Whether that means pursuing the newest standard of care treatment or trial, or discussing the risks and benefits of any treatment, or considering whether it’s time to pursue comfort care, I will do my best to provide care to my patients with empathy and grace.
