Rachel M. Brown Talaska, MD

As a cardiologist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to delivering comprehensive and patient–provider care. My approach emphasizes proactive healthcare engagement, ensuring that my patients are well-informed and actively involved in their treatment plans.

I specialize in managing patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, with a particular focus on heart failure. My experience includes leading clinical trials such as CARE-HK, TRANSFORM-HF, and SPIRRIT-HFpEF, which aim to advance treatment options for heart failure patients. My expertise in acute inpatient cardiac care allows me to provide specialized and effective treatment for complex cardiac conditions.

Throughout my career, I have held several leadership roles, including director of the cardiac intensive care unit, director of consultative cardiology, and director of inpatient cardiac services at Northwell Health–Lenox Hill Hospital. These positions have equipped me with unique skills in managing acute cardiac conditions and coordinating comprehensive care for my patients. My involvement in clinical trials and research further enhances my ability to offer cutting-edge treatments.

My educational journey began with a bachelor’s degree in the history of science and the history of medicine from Yale University, followed by a doctor of medicine degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. I completed my internal medicine residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where I served as chief fellow. My passion for cardiology was inspired by my academic experiences and the dynamic field of cardiovascular medicine.
