As a physician specializing in emergency medicine and cardiothoracic critical care at NYU Langone, my commitment to improving lives is at the heart of my practice. My approach to care is holistic, focusing on all aspects of a patient's wellbeing, beyond just medications or procedures. I work closely with my patients, understanding their goals and values, and helping them comprehend the science behind their care.

My specialties enable me to provide critical care to the most seriously ill or injured individuals when they need it the most. This allows me to make a tangible difference in their lives and the lives of their loved ones. In emergency medicine, I primarily care for adults with a wide range of conditions. In critical care, my focus is on patients who require cardiac surgery or other advanced cardiovascular support.

I am board-certified in echocardiography, a test that uses sound-like waves to create pictures of the heart and perform cardiac and other ultrasounds. I also have extensive experience in chest thoracostomies, tracheostomies, pericardiocentesis, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation interventions. These are all procedures that help support or improve heart and lung function.

My commitment to proactive healthcare engagement and patient-centered care is reflected in my dedication to continually reassessing data and revising the art of medicine to reflect the most current understandings.

My journey into medicine was inspired by my study of philosophy and experiences in the U.S. military. I was drawn to the intensity of focus and the immediate and intense impact that the practice of medicine can have on improving lives. Beyond the emergency department, I am a faculty member for the Department of Cardiac Surgery in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit, staff for the Hyperbaric Center, and teach at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine both clinically, and in the Health Systems Science-Social Sciences, Humanities, Ethics, and Professionalism (HSS-SHEP) course.
