Michael D. Hope, MD

As a chest radiologist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive and precise imaging services to support the diagnosis and management of patients with thoracic conditions. My approach emphasizes integrating advanced imaging techniques to deliver accurate and timely results, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. I believe in the importance of clear communication and collaboration with other healthcare providers to enhance patient outcomes.

My primary expertise lies in aortic and cardiac imaging, where I use advanced modalities such as 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and hybrid positron emission tomography (PET)/MRI to assess cardiovascular diseases. I also have significant experience in managing a wide range of thoracic pathologies, including cancer and interstitial lung disease. My research focuses on applying innovative imaging techniques to better understand and manage patients with progressive aortic disease, aiming to improve clinical outcomes through detailed hemodynamic and inflammatory assessments.

Before joining NYU Langone, I served as a professor in residence and vice-chair in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), and as chief of radiology at the San Francisco VA Health Care System. These roles have equipped me with extensive experience in both clinical practice and academic leadership, allowing me to bring a wealth of knowledge and a collaborative spirit to my current position.

I earned my medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, followed by a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in cardiopulmonary imaging at UCSF. My journey into medicine was inspired by a fascination with the complexities of the human body and a desire to contribute to advances in medical imaging. This foundation drives my commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance patient care at NYU Langone.
