Joseph Genovese, DO

As a physician specializing in internal medicine and pulmonary medicine at NYU Langone, I provide personalized care to each of my patients. My passion for understanding the human body drives me to make a significant difference in the lives of those I treat. I value unhurried visits, as they allow me to fully understand my patients’ needs and identify potential issues that may be missed in high-volume practices.

My primary areas of focus are internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and sleep medicine. I have a keen interest in treating pulmonary disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, and pulmonary fibrosis. These are conditions that affect the lungs and can cause breathing difficulties. In addition, I am board-certified in sleep medicine, where I treat conditions like sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, and shift work sleep disorder. These conditions can significantly impact a person’s sleep quality and overall wellbeing.

Throughout my career, I have always strived to treat my patients as whole individuals, often assisting my pulmonary patients with a wide array of medical problems. This comprehensive approach to care reflects my training as an osteopathic medical physician. I also believe in open communication and make myself readily accessible to my patients through the Mychart portal or office phone.

My journey into medicine was sparked by my fascination with the human body and my desire to help others. This passion was solidified during my pre-med years in college, where I volunteered on my university and community ambulances. After training in internal medicine, I pursued a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine, which has greatly influenced my current practice. As a part of NYU Langone, I am dedicated to working closely with my patients to help them achieve optimal health.
