As a neonatologist at NYU Neonatology Associates, I specialize in neonatal neurocritical comprehensive care. I have dedicated my career to the exceptional care of newborns, driven by a lifelong passion for pediatrics sparked during childhood summers spent assisting my mother in a Montessori preschool. I have a natural inclination toward science and medicine, which led me to pursue a medical career and ultimately find my calling in neonatology. The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is not just a place of healing, but a realm where the extraordinary complexity of caring for infants unfolds in rewarding and challenging ways. I appreciate the unique nature of each day’s experiences and cherish the opportunity to discover and innovate amid these challenges.

I am originally from Dublin, Ireland, and completed medical training there before embarking on a journey that has enriched my expertise across the globe. I completed my pediatric residency and neonatology fellowship in New York before joining a fellowship in neonatal neurocritical care in Toronto, Canada. I am among the pioneering neonatologists in the United States with formal training in this emerging subspecialty, which focuses on preventing brain injury during the critical phases of fetal and neonatal development.

With a commitment to minimizing brain injury and maximizing developmental potential, my clinical and academic work emphasizes comprehensive support throughout early childhood. Beyond the NICU, my involvement in the neonatal comprehensive care program (NCCP) highlights my dedication to long-term care, where a multidisciplinary team conducts developmental assessments of at-risk infants up to age two. I believe in a family-centered approach, empowering families to participate actively in their infants’ care, ensuring mutual support during challenging times.
