Research Summary

I am a clinical and interventional cardiologist specializing in acute coronary syndromes.

For many years I have been involved in national practice guideline development and currently serve as vice chair of the American College of Cardiology Foundation/American Heart Association Guideline for the Management of ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction writing committee.

I am also a former member of the American College of Cardiology Task Force on Clinical Practice Guidelines and the Science Board to the Food and Drug Administration. I also serve on several medical journal editorial boards.

As a teacher of and mentor to students, house staff, and young faculty, I have taught numerous courses on the doctor–patient relationship. In the spring and fall I spend time at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue on the medical service and teaching cardiology to fellows, and I teach at Tisch Hospital as a volunteer.

I also maintain a clinical practice in New Orleans and am a clinical professor of medicine at Louisiana State University and at Tulane University School of Medicine, where I received the Alpha Omega Alpha Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award.
