Amanda Sterbenz, NP

I have always been passionate about improving patient care and making a meaningful impact on the lives of others, which led me to pursue a career in medicine. My clinical journey began in nursing, where I gained extensive experience as a bedside nurse and later participated in quality improvement initiatives focused on enhancing patient outcomes and healthcare delivery. After obtaining my nurse practitioner degree, I began practicing in endocrinology, where I developed a strong interest in the management of complex endocrine disorders. Through the mentorship and guidance of experienced clinicians in the field, I cultivated a deep appreciation for endocrinology and the importance of delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care. Most recently, I earned my doctor of nursing practice degree, with a scholarly focus on diabetes management and continuous glucose monitoring technologies.

I was drawn to the complexity of endocrine disorders and the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients as I help them navigate chronic conditions that affect many aspects of their health and daily lives. Most recently, I earned a doctor of nursing practice degree, where my project focused on type 2 diabetes and continuous glucose monitoring. This work further strengthened my commitment to advancing evidence-based endocrine care and improving patient outcomes.

For me, one of the most rewarding parts of my work is helping patients better understand their health and empowering them to take an active role in their care. I am dedicated to ensuring every patient feels supported and cared for with empathy, respect, and attention to their unique healthcare needs. I strive to build trust and long-lasting relationships by creating a welcoming environment, taking the time to listen, providing clear communication, and collaborating with patients on their treatment plans.

I provide comprehensive endocrine care for patients managing a wide range of hormonal and metabolic disorders, including type 2 diabetes, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, thyroid cancer, thyroid nodules, and pituitary disorders and tumors, such as acromegaly, growth hormone deficiency, and prolactinomas. My goal is to help patients effectively manage their conditions using evidence-based treatments, patient education, and long-term care relationships.

As part of the team at NYU Langone, we are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through multidisciplinary collaboration, preventive education, and the use of current clinical guidelines and technology. These approaches improve access, streamline follow-ups, and enhance treatment outcomes for the patients we serve.
