Matthew S. Breen, MD

As a neuroradiologist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to enhancing patient care through precise and advanced imaging techniques. My passion for anatomy and commitment to medical education drive my work, and I am thrilled to have such amazing opportunities to both teach and be taught at NYU. I care deeply about effective, precise and accurate communication for both patients and referring doctors, and making sure patients receive the highest standard of care.

In addition to general neurology diagnoses, I specialize in head and neck imaging, and several advanced imaging techniques such as positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (PET/MRI), functional MRI, and tractography.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to proactive healthcare engagement, emphasizing the importance of clear communication. My work in the field includes teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, particularly in advanced imaging techniques like 3D volumetric imaging. By fostering an intuitive understanding of these methods, I help trainees develop the skills necessary for success in their careers and enhance their diagnostic confidence. The support I received during my own training was invaluable to me—and I only hope to pay it forward.

As part of the NYU Langone team, I collaborate with a diverse group of specialists, ensuring comprehensive and coordinated care for my patients. My goal is to provide not just diagnostic clarity but also a compassionate and supportive experience for every patient I encounter.
