At NYU Langone, I am honored to serve as a pediatric hospital medicine specialist, where I provide comprehensive care to children and their families during their hospital stay. My approach to care is holistic, emphasizing a close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, child life specialists, and social workers. I firmly believe in the power of effective, language-concordant communication to ensure families are fully engaged and informed throughout their child’s care.

My expertise is rooted in pediatric hospital medicine, with a particular emphasis on enhancing communication with patients and families, especially those who speak languages other than English. My research is geared towards improving family engagement and doctor–patient communication during family-centered rounds. I also work on refining both verbal and written communication strategies provided to families. This work plays a crucial role in overcoming language barriers and enhancing the overall patient experience.

Over the years, I have dedicated my career to proactive engagement in healthcare, which extends to my teaching and administrative roles. I am passionate about teaching pediatric residents and medical students, emphasizing evidence-based medicine during inpatient rotations and pediatric clerkships. Additionally, I serve as the medical director for inpatient pediatrics at Bellevue and co-direct the Department of Pediatrics Research Pathway for residents and students. This role allows me to connect residents with mentors and research opportunities to drive meaningful change.

My journey into medicine was inspired by the desire to make a difference in the lives of children and their families. The opportunity to help a child feel better both physically and emotionally, and to support their family during the hospital stay, is incredibly rewarding. It continues to inspire my practice every day. As part of the NYU Langone team, I am committed to providing coordinated, seamless care to all my patients, ensuring a positive patient experience.
