I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist, specializing in working with people who are experiencing distress arising from relationships, career or school concerns, parenting, loneliness, and major life transitions. I have a particular interest in women’s mental health, working collaboratively to help navigate challenges related to fertility, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, postpartum, and menopause. I treat a range of conditions including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but I believe a person is much more than a label or diagnosis. Together, we will explore what is most meaningful in order to build resilience and promote emotional well-being.
I received my medical degree from Duke University, followed by a residency in adult psychiatry at NYU Langone, where I was chief resident during my final year. Motivated by the belief that early life experiences deeply impact our long-term mental health, I pursued further specialization in child and adolescent psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian’s joint Columbia University and Weill Cornell program. During my fellowship, I received additional training in reproductive psychiatry, inspired by my work with children and their caregivers to further explore the parent-child dyad and the meaning of parenthood.
I am trained in both psychopharmacology, recommending psychiatric medications when appropriate, and psychotherapy. I work with my patients to tailor therapy to their unique needs, often blending psychodynamic or insight-oriented therapy with techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), motivational interviewing, and parent management training (PMT). My approach is warm, thoughtful, and personalized, and my goal is for my patients to discover something new about themselves during each visit.
