Mila Kirstie C. Palmieri, PhD

As a clinical psychologist at NYU Langone Psychiatry Associates, I provide psychotherapy for adults navigating a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, psychosis, schizophrenia, trauma, and women’s mental health. Working with both individuals and couples, I help patients deepen self-understanding, foster resilience, and achieve meaningful change by building insight and developing practical tools to support growth.

My clinical training is rooted in a contemporary psychodynamic approach that emphasizes meaning-making and personal narratives. Recognizing that therapy must be tailored to each individual, I meet patients where they are in their mental health journey and integrate a variety of therapeutic techniques to suit their unique needs. These include psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed/processing treatments, harm reduction, and emotion-focused therapy (EFT).

My early academic and clinical experiences sparked a lifelong dedication to understanding and amplifying personal stories. While pursuing my first master’s degree, I worked closely with individuals living with severe psychiatric conditions, which deepened my commitment to creating spaces where patients feel heard and validated. My approach is guided by curiosity, sensitivity, and an appreciation for each patient’s strengths and lived experiences.

Licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey, I collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide individualized, comprehensive, and coordinated care—I am honored to support patients during life’s most challenging moments, offering a therapeutic environment grounded in thoughtful listening, ethical care, and genuine respect for each person’s journey.
