My father was a pediatrician and my role model. I chose to pursue a career in the field of pediatric endocrinology to help children like my father did. Diabetes was always a special interest of mine, partly due to several of my family members having to live with this chronic disease. I was also always interested in the genetics of growth disorders.

I care for young patients with a variety of endocrine disorders, including diabetes mellitus, puberty disorders, growth disorders, adrenal disorders, pituitary and hypothalamic dysfunction, and obesity. I treat each patient as if he or she is one of my own children. Our team incorporates innovative treatment modalities.

In my research, I worked on developing a novel serum-derived biomarker of beta cell death in children with type 1 diabetes. This study was designed to offer a noninvasive method for the detection of circulating beta cell–derived DNA in these patients.

In 2016, I was selected as a Super Doctors’ Rising Star in New York. I also received the Top Doctor Award from the International Association of Healthcare Professionals in 2018.
