About Me
I specialize in pediatric critical care because it allows me to make an immediate difference in the lives of the children I care for. At Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, I treat children who have pneumonia, heart failure, kidney failure, sepsis, and other conditions. In infants and children with severe heart or lung failure, I perform extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy to circulate blood during recovery.
Pediatric critical care requires a team approach. Along with other critical care physicians, I work with nurses, residents, pharmacists, and surgeons. Together, we focus on the patient and family’s experience. Parents and other family members can provide valuable insight into what the child is going through, so I try to involve families in the decision-making process as much as possible.
My pharmacokinetics research looks at how medications are absorbed and metabolized. Understanding how children respond to certain medications shows me how I can best help my patients.
