About Me
As a psychiatrist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to understanding the unique needs of each patient and providing personalized care. My passion for psychiatry stems from a lifelong fascination with the brain and mind, which began when I worked in my first neuroscience laboratory at age 14. Witnessing the positive impact of biological treatments on a friend during high school solidified my commitment to this field. In my current role, I strive to improve my patients’ wellness through a flexible and responsive approach, ensuring they receive the most effective care possible.
I specialize in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). With extensive training in psychopharmacology and various psychotherapy modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic psychotherapy, I am well-equipped to address a wide range of mental health concerns.
My primary focus is on adolescence and early adulthood, but I also work with many adult patients, particularly parents whose concerns often relate to their children. Women’s psychiatry, including perinatal psychiatry and hormone-brain interactions, has been a significant area of focus in my clinical training and research.
My educational journey began with an MD/PhD program, followed by residency training and a child–adolescent fellowship. My PhD thesis focused on PMDD and neuroimaging across the menstrual cycle. I have also conducted research on PTSD and anxiety disorders.
Throughout my career, I have focused on the importance of therapy in conjunction with medication to improve symptoms and transform patients’ lives. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and take a genuine interest in my patients’ stories, thoughts, and feelings. This approach allows me to provide comprehensive and coordinated care, often combining medication and therapy to achieve the best outcomes. For patients who see me only for medication, I ensure communication with their therapist to maintain a cohesive treatment plan.
Inspired by the transformative power of psychiatry, I have dedicated my career to helping patients achieve better mental health and overall wellbeing.
