Jill Dietz, MD

As an oncoplastic breast surgeon at NYU Langone, I provide care that combines the precision of surgery with the artistry of reconstruction. Growing up on a farm in western Pennsylvania, I developed a love for working with my hands through sculpting, painting, and building. This background, coupled with my personal experiences in emergency rooms, inspired my approach to breast surgery, where I aim to remove tumors with the greatest accuracy while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible. My goal is to achieve excellent cosmetic outcomes, often leaving my patients looking better than before their surgery.

I specialize in treating breast cancer and other concerning breast conditions, leveraging over 20 years of experience in the field. My philosophy is to use advanced imaging technology and personalized medications to detect cancer earlier and improve survival rates. As an oncoplastic surgeon, I often reconstruct the breast by removing the tumor and remodeling the breast with tissue rearrangement, lifts, or reductions, ensuring the best possible cosmetic outcome and complete tumor removal.

Throughout my career, I have focused on improving patient outcomes through teaching and continuous learning. I recently earned a master's degree in healthcare management from Harvard School of Public Health, empowering me to provide high-value care with excellent patient experiences and minimal financial burden. My research has introduced new advanced procedures and techniques, and as vice chair of the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, I led the rewrite of standards to focus on patient care and shared decision-making.

My educational journey and career have been shaped by training and working at world-class cancer centers, learning from leaders in breast cancer surgery.
