Wei Li, MD

As an emergency medicine physician at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients during some of their most critical moments. My role allows me to serve a diverse patient population, from infants to the elderly, and manage a wide range of conditions—from common colds to life-threatening illnesses. The dynamic nature of emergency medicine, combined with the opportunity to make a significant impact on patients' lives, is what drives my passion for this field.

Emergency medicine offers a broad scope of practice and the chance to interact with individuals from all walks of life. With extensive training and years of experience, I am well-equipped to handle various acute medical conditions. My journey in medicine began with a deep interest in science and a desire to help others, which led me to pursue a career where I could make a tangible difference in the lives of my patients.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to proactive healthcare engagement. One memorable experience from my training involved a patient who came to the emergency department with severe abdominal pain. After diagnosing him with a kidney stone and administering treatment, I witnessed a remarkable transformation in his condition within minutes. This experience reinforced my dedication to emergency medicine and the importance of timely, effective care.

My educational background includes rigorous training in emergency medicine, and I am proud to be affiliated with NYU Langone. The emergency departments at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island and NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn are staffed with some of the most caring and skilled professionals I have ever worked with. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to listening, evaluating, and treating emergent conditions swiftly while ensuring care coordination for patients after they leave the hospital.

I pursued a career in medicine because it combines my love for science with the ability to serve others in their time of need. The most fulfilling aspects of my job are the interactions I have with patients and the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team that truly cares for them. My inspiration to specialize in emergency medicine stems from the profound impact I can have on patients' lives, especially during their most vulnerable moments.
