About Me
As an adult and geriatric psychiatrist at NYU Langone, I strive to provide thoughtful, collaborative, and evidence-based care to my patients. My approach is centered on curiosity, which allows me to deeply engage in patients’ life stories and tailor treatment to their unique needs. My practice combines psychotherapy with the judicious use of medications.
I specialize in treating a wide range of conditions, mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders including panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, as well as cognitive disorders, psychosis, and manifestations of trauma. My fellowship training in geriatric psychiatry has deepened my understanding of how medical conditions and emotional wellbeing influence each other.
Throughout my professional career, I have worked in diverse settings. I have cared for individuals experiencing psychiatric crises in the emergency department, valuing therapeutic relationships even in brief interactions. I have also treated patients in short-term intensive outpatient programs, emphasizing resilience and skill-building. My advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy enables me to effectively support those seeking longer-term treatment to explore the roots of their symptoms.
I am dedicated to improving access to healthcare and training future psychiatrists. As the director of outpatient services during the pandemic, I oversaw 10 clinics and led the implementation of telepsychiatry. I have earned multiple teaching awards as the geriatric psychiatry fellowship director. I was honored with the Carol Davis Ethics Award by the American Psychiatric Association in 2019 for my psychiatric ethics research.
Through my scholarly and educational work, I aim to not only enhance my own clinical practice but also to inspire our trainees to provide compassionate and patient-centered care. I believe that this integration allows me to contribute to a more holistic approach to mental health in the community.
